The race is open to boats of more than 11 metres (Lft for CIM, Loa for IRC) with

berths, compulsorily fi tted with an « inboard » serviced motor, 25 Watt fi xed

VHF radio transceiver with emergency aerial, with compulsory lifeboat, equipped

according to the « off-shore » navigation category (+6 n.m.), with marking &

be at least three competitors. Otherwise, either groupings will be made or these

boats could be accepted as accompanying « off race ».

The following are the classes invited to take part on the basis of a « time over

time » handicap:

a) traditional yachts, with CIM rating:

according to a plan prior to that date,

according to a plan prior to that date.

b) « Spirit of Tradition » sailing boats, IRC rating, depending of available places

left by above entries,

« Spirit of Tradition » yachts: for vintage or classic sailing boats where the

modifi cations and restorations undertaken prevent them from sailing in these

categories, as well as boats built after 1970 using modern techniques and

materials while keeping to an appearance and style faithful to a traditional

period plan or classic design. Priority given to « S.o.B » boats recognised by CIM

(E.U.), the Spirit of Tradition Society (USA), the B.C.Y.C. (UK) or Antigua Y.C.

The Organization Committee reserves the right to create specifi c groups in each

class and to envisage the participation of other current classes, either in real

time or according to their own class rules, subject to reservations that these

boats are equipped with berths and also fi tted out according to the « off-shore »

category. Thus, classic motor yatchs racing under a regularity formula as well as

Tall Ships racing under « STI » rule might be accepted.

The race is bound by the following texts in force. French language will prevail

in the interpretation of the texts in the event of disagreement.

a) Current Race Rules in force, including the stipulations of FFV.

b) ISAF rule n°2 on « fair sailing ».

c) CIM measurement rules for vintage and classic sailing boats.

d) IRC measurement rules for « Spirit of Tradition » boats.

e) The present Notice of Race.

f) The Sailing Instructions.

g) The specifi c Trophee Bailli de Suffren regulations, cf Table of Off-shore

Regulations,attached to above R.I.

The yachts not having a sail number will be given a race number by the organizers

after payment of a deposit of 75 Euros, payable to S.N.S.T.

The race fl eet being limited for 2008 to 25 participants, Spirit of Tradition Yachts

will be accepted in function of available places left by vintage and classic boats.

a valid certifi cate of CIM or IRC measurement certifi cate (copy),

the Federal certifi cate 2008 issued by the FFV or any other national federation,

including a visa for sailing raing ability,

a parental authorization to embark and leave national territory for persons

under age,

a valid passport (or National Identity Card for European citizens),

the signed discharge on the responsibility of the captain, available at registration,

the insurance policy of the boat for sailing competitions, with valid thirdparty

liability insurance with a minimum cover for 2 millions euros per event

or the equivalent,

a photography of the boat and its prize-list (i.e.: copy of a press release,...),

the check-list of the special regulations for TBS,

150 Euros for yachts Lft or Loa under 2Om,

250 Euros for yachts Lft or Loa equal to or over 20m.

Final admission will be decided by organizers after examination of above

documents. The present Race Notice and forms for registration, discharge of

responsibility, crews-list, the Sailing Instructions, Chart of Good Conduct

and the Programme will be available on the web sites: www.snstt.org and

www.troheebaillidesuffren.com

It is essential to keep a copy of the above particulars on board - it could be

requested at the ports of call.

Competitors may make a donation (against tax receipt) for the benefi t of the

Société Nationale de Sauvetage en Mer (SNSM): cheque made payable to « SNSM

Saint-Tropez » with or prior to, during or after the race.

Secretariat as from Thursday 26 June 2008 at 10:AM on presentation and after

checking of the documents mentioned above: « Admissions ».

All French and foreign competitors must have a civil liability insurance

covering, the third party liability when they sail in competition. The guaranteed

amount must be not less than 2 000 000 euros for physical & material damages

all together. The French competitor’s Valid FFVoile licence is the insurance

certifi cate. The foreign competitors without a FFVoile licence, shall provide an

original insurance certifi cate in French or English from their insurance. The

guaranteed amounts shall be in Euros, Dollars or in English pounds. A French

sailing licence (FFV) can also be issued in situ to any competitor, having the

adequate medical certifi cate, before the start.

Checks on board the yachts could be carried out in the presence of the skipper

before the start at Saint-Tropez, on arrival at the ports of call and in Malta,

at the request of the Race Committee, the Claims Committee, the Organization

Committee, an Association of reference Class or one of the yacht clubs from

the ports of call. Competitors should have in their possession the last valid

measurement certifi cate, obtains at:

The maximum number of people on board must be equal to 4 persons on boats

from 11 to 15 meters, 6 pers. from 15 to 20m, 8 pers. for above 20m. long boats.

It is the responsibility of the captain alone that his crew has the technical skills,

health, physical preparation, equipment and sporting experience needed to

take part in an offshore race of several days with navigation by night, and

that each crew member actually has a valid passport or Identity Card for the

European Union.

in Sicily by the Lega Navale Italiana (LNI-TP) and, in Malta by the RMYC.

Prizes of Elegance, for «Fair play», for «Art de Vivre», for Regularity, for

Seamanship, of «The Classic Yachtman of the Year», of the best Restoration,

for Naval etiquette, for Corinthian Spirit, inter-clubs.

The event is classifi ed in category « A » in compliance with clause 20 of ISAF

rule, code of advertising.

A partnership fl ag could be handed over by the Organization Committee to each

competitor and should be hoisted on the stay at each port of call. The race pennant

handed to the competitors should be hoisted on the back stay during the race.

Occupation of moorings, security on board, behavior aground and environment

protection will be the entire responsibility of the captain of each boat.

« It is the sole responsibility of the skipper of a boat to take part in a race or not,

or to remain in the race » (Basic rule n°4 of the ISAF).

Organizers will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury

or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during or after race.

Warning, in Malta the boats must compulsorily declare their arrival and their

departure with Valletta Port Control, Immigration as well as to the Customs at

Grand Harbour. Forgetting this procedure can lead to temporary immobilization

or an inspection for regularization by maritime police.

Lastly, the introduction of pet animals is prohibited in Malta. On the other hand the

presence of a pet is tolerated subject to the animal remaining on board (and in the

cabin when the crew is absent). The non-observance of this rule can lead to placing

the animal in quarantine by the Customs authorities or by the Maritime Police.

The protestations, if these are not the subject of an amicable agreement, will

be judged according to the rules of the ISAF after deposit of a letter giving a

detailed account together.
